Ernestine L. Penry Scholarship
The ELP Foundation was created in 1980 in honor of Ernestine, the wife of Rev. Herbert T. Penry, Jr. Ernestine provided inspiration and leadership for their family of five children while Rev. Penry completed his baccalaureate degree at High Point College and went on to seminary at Duke University.
The Penry family created the ELP Scholarship because of their commitment to higher education and to helping others who have a calling to the ministry of Jesus Christ.
The Ernestine L. Penry (ELP) Scholarship Foundation provides financial assistance to deserving men and women who are called to attend seminary and share the word of Jesus Christ. In the 40+ years since the foundation’s inception, ELP has provided almost one million dollars to over 176 students. Recipients of the ELP scholarship have gone on to serve all over the world in positions including pastors, missionaries, and church leaders.
You can give to the Scholarship Fund through our Giving button and/or through the church in person or via mail. Just designate the ELP Scholarship Fund.
We also host an annual golf tournament with all funds going to the Scholarship Fund.
