Mount Pisgah Youth

“The Whobodies” is the name of our youth group here at Mount Pisgah Church and was established in 1975

The name “Whobodies” was created by Maxi Dunnam. Maxi was The World Editor of “The Upper Room” and author of the book “Whobody There”. Herb Henry, pastor of Mount Pisgah Church at the time, discovered the book “Whobody There” and was led to name the Mount Pisgah Youth Group “The Whobodies”. Shortly after, The Whobodies began witnessing for Christ by traveling the country as a singing group under the leadership of Herb Henry. Four years after the group’s inception, The Whobodies created an album titled “God Is Greater” in 1979. The Whobodies have been a thriving youth group at Mount Pisgah since its creation up to this current day!

The Whobodies meet every Sunday from 12:15 to 1:50pm in the youth room here at Mount Pisgah for a provided lunch, a lesson, and simply a time to connect and hang out in a Christian environment.

We continue the tradition of witnessing and reaching out to people and communities for Christ. Every summer, we take a trip that involves a mission, along with fun and adventure! The group goes on a weekend retreat every Spring and Fall. One of our favorite retreat sites is Camp Cheerio, another valued aspect of the Whobody tradition. Throughout the year we enjoy fun activities as a group. These activities include: church lock-ins, bowling, movie nights, sporting events, Concerts, and even a visit to local amusement parks.

Another long standing tradition is our Annual Pumpkin Patch Fundraiser held each fall here at Mount Pisgah. The Pumpkin Patch was started as a fundraiser back in 1996, and has been a successful way to not only reach out to the community for Christ, but also as a means to raise money for our wonderful youth program. The money raised from our beloved Pumpkin Patch allows us the ability to go on mission trips and reach people and places for the glory of our Lord and Savior, all while providing experiences and opportunities for our youth to draw closer in their relationship with Christ.

The Whobodies is, and will always be, a program centered on Christ while providing a safe and secure environment in a community of believers.
